Christine Ver Ploeg Garcia

Christine Ver Ploeg Garcia is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who provides counseling, neurofeedback training, and clinical supervision.  Ms. Garcia holds degrees from the University of Wyoming, and the University of Denver School of Social Work.  She completed a post-graduate fellowship at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque with the Department of Psychiatry at The Children’s Psychiatric Hospital. 

Ms. Garcia’s professional experience includes providing therapeutic services to children, adults and families in New Mexico for over ten (10) years.  She has received extensive training  in the fields of family systems, attachment and trauma work and neurofeedback. 

Ms. Garcia has worked at Namaste Child & Family Development Center since 1998 and continues as a consultant for the agency. Ms. Garcia also has a private practice in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area.

Ms. Garcia provides counseling to individuals of all ages, applying her knowledge of early developmental relationships and their impact on brain development, affect regulation and our quality of relationships through adulthood.  Ms. Garcia works from a perspective that focuses on the importance of relationship and how building trust and safety leads to change.  She believes family therapy is necessary and integral when working with a child who displays behavior problems.  In this regard, she has worked extensively with adopted children and their families, as well as with children exhibiting attachment difficulties, their families, and/or foster parents.  

Helping clients identify their strengths and building on and developing effective coping strategies whether one is dealing with depression, anxiety or a history of trauma is the goal of treatment.
